CS Instruments GmbH & Co. KG with locations in 24955 Harrislee and 78052 Villingen-Schwenningen/ Tannheim, is managed by Dipl. Eng. (FH) Wolfgang Blessing as sole Managing Director.
CS Instruments GmbH was established in the year 2002 by Christian Schuldt and Wolfgang Blessing as equal shareholders/Managing Directors.
Wolfgang Blessing already was sound a specialist on the sector of compressed air technology resp. industrial measurement technology long before the establishment of CS Instruments GmbH in the year 2002. Prior to the foundation of CS Instruments GmbH Dipl. Eng. (FH) Wolfgang Blessing acted for more than 10 years as primarily responsible product manager for industrial measurement technology at a worldwide known manufacturer of measuring instruments for compressed air and gases in the Black Forest. The technical knowledge and experience matched with the long-term practical knowledge was the corner stone for the success of CS Instruments.
After more than 12 years the name CS Instruments stands for proven and innovative measurement technology for compressed air and gases with subsidiaries and distributors all over the world. The number of staff members increased from 1 person in the founding year 2002 to currently about 50 staff members (as of September 2014).
CS Instruments continuously invests into the further training of its staff members and in modern calibration stands for dew point/pressure dew point and flow measurement. This continuous investment is the basis for the research, development and the subsequent realization of new product ideas in Germany.
All products without any exception are developed, produced and calibrated in Germany. We also take care that the slogan “Made in Germany" is not only a sentence on a paper but is also put into practice. Furthermore we always try to make sure that also our suppliers – if possible – are German based.
For these reasons we can rightly claim that CS Instruments for years belongs to the worldwide leading manufacturers of measurement technology for compressed air and gases.
Dew point measurement and dew point monitoring in compressed air systems is essential. Drying of granulate in plastics technology, the generation and usage of various technical gases (N2, O2, Ar, H2) and a lot more applications require dew point measuring equipment. With our reliable dew point meters we are helping customers worldwide to ensure the required product quality in compressed air and gas systems.
For any questions concerning our dew point meters feel free to contact one of our local experts by using our contact form or just give us a call.

As experience manufacturer of dew point sensors CS Instruments offer a wide and field proven product portfolio for dew point sensors. Our delivery program includes especially designed stationary and mobile solutions for dew point monitoring of refrigeration, adsorption or membrane dryers. Ideal accessories like measuring chambers, dry containers or diffusion tight hose ensure that CS dew point transmitters are the perfect solution for a trouble-free dew point monitoring.
Standard interfaces are 4…20mA, Modbus RTU or M-Bus. Furthermore, all dew point sensors can be combined easily with our data loggers. Dew point sensors form CS Instruments enables a reliable and long-term stable monitoring of the dew point in industrial applications from -80 to +20 °C dew point. We recommend the indirect installation with measuring chamber. This enables easy mounting and dismounting of the probe without interruption of the line, a quick response time and optimum sensor protection.
Air always contains water in form of vapor. Since air contrary to water can be compressed the water drops out during the compression procedure in form of condensate. The maximum humidity of the air depends on the temperature and the volume. It does not depend on any quantity. The ambient air can be imagined like a wet sponge. In relaxed condition, it is able to absorb a certain quantity of water. It the sponge is squeezed water drops out. Some water will remain in the sponge even in case of a strong compression. This process is similar to the compressed air applications.
At each temperature, the air can hold a maximum quantity of water. The warmer the air is the more water can be absorbed. Dew point is the temperature to which air must be cooled for the water vapor in it to condense into dew or frost.
Pressure dew point is the temperature to which the compressed air can be cooled down without any condensation. The pressure dew point depends on the final compression pressure. In case of a declining pressure also the pressure dew point drops. For compressed air only the pressure dew point is significant. The atmospheric dew point is misleading and should not be used.
Air flow meters and mass flow meters from CS Instruments work according to the calorimetric measuring principle. This means, while measuring the thermal mass flow or standard volume flow, no additional temperature and pressure compensation is necessary. The standard volume is a common volumetric unit used to compare gas quantities at different pressures and temperatures. In order to meet various standards, the reference conditions can be set directly on the display of the flow meter. Thus, our flow meters provide consumption and flow measurement within the standard our customers wish to use them.

CS Instruments GmbH has been an expert in the field of consumption and flow measurement for many years and serves customers worldwide with the most advanced flow meters. For this reason, we offer a wide range of field proven tools for most applications. The consumption sensors of our VA550 and VA570, for example, have been developed especially for rough industrial applications. Thanks to their robust, impact-resistant aluminum die-cast housing, these flow meters can easily be installed outdoors (IP65). On request, we also offer an ATEX approval for our flow meters. Those measurement devices can be used up to a maximum pressure of 100 bar and a maximum temperature of 180 °C. Our direct immersion variants are the ideal flow meters for existing compressed air and gas lines and can be easily installed and removed under pressure via a ½" ball valve. Those flow sensors are available with different shaft lengths and can also be used in very large pipelines > DN 1000 or rectangular ducts.
Within the package of all our flow measurement devices there is always a factory calibration certificate. Optionally, ISO certificates are also available, which can be traced back to the national standard. While ISO 1217 (1000 mbar, 20 ° C) is generally used to measure compressed air flows, DIN1343 (1013 mbar, 0 ° C) is used to measure most industrial gases. In addition to the consumption measurement, our flow meters can also be used for leakage measurement and leakage detection. Therefore, our flow measurement devices are the perfect tools to provide users with all necessary information on possible energy savings.
In contrast to many other working principles, the pressure loss resulting from our consumption measurement method is negligible. Each consumption meter can be equipped with various interfaces and thus ensures the connection to your control technology, data loggers or evaluation devices. These include e.g. 4 ... 20mA, pulse, Modbus RTU, M-BUS or even Ethernet. Our thermal mass flow meters can also cover a wide range of applications and media (compressed air, carbon dioxide, vacuum, nitrogen, oxygen, ozone, natural gas, hydrogen, argon, helium, biogas, etc.)
Our philosophy is to help our customers finding the products that exactly meet with their needs. Therefore, we are looking forward to give you a free consultation which flow meter or flow measurement equipment would be the correct choice for you. Just use our contact form or simply give as a call.
Leakages are the reason for the biggest waste of energy in compressed air systems. Several studies show that 30% of the cost of compressed air can be saved by eliminating leakages. Therefore, it is a must to detect and eliminate leakages frequently. Our LD-Series will give you all the function needed to detect leakages and measure the consequences in terms of energy consumption and wasted money.
Typical applications of our measuring instruments in this section are leakage detection in compressed air systems and leak testing of unpressurized systems.
is the advancement of the proven LD 300 and even the smallest leakages can be detected even from distances of several meters.
The set includes a robust impact-proof transportation case which contains all necessary components and accessories.
With the integrated camera it is possible to take photos of the leakage areas. A software allows simple report generation on your computer. Available end of 2017.
While LD 400 detects the leakage the LD500 is also able to calculate the leakage cost. The user gets a review about the actual state of the tested system and about the potential cost savings. If you are not sure which instrument is for you please contact our experts. We help you to find the right leak detector that fits your application needs.
The following table gives you an idea of how much the actual potential savings are caused by leakages in compressed air systems.
